He is wise who knows the sources of knowledge -- where it is written and where it is to be found.

Personal Philosophy of Library Service:

The school librarian has the unique charge of ensuring that students have equitable access to information and know how to use it appropriately and responsibly.  Most importantly, the school librarian teaches students to be information literate through curriculum-based lessons and collaborative efforts with the school’s teachers.  While the school library serves the school community and its partners as an information hub, the school librarian provides leadership and expertise to introduce students and teachers alike to innovative instructional techniques and emerging technological trends so they may become better instructors and learners.  The school librarian will do this by:

·         Creating a collection that meets the needs of the school community, including materials in a variety of formats.

·         Working to create collaborative teaching opportunities with classroom teachers to increase students’ information literacy by better integrating the use of information in classroom activities and serve the needs of students with varied learning styles.

·         Modeling the correct use of information as well as the use of current technology and applications in an academic context, including the appropriate use of the Internet.

·         Promoting the library’s collection through a variety of activities to motivate students to read.
